The Three-Round Consensus Process

Propose Round:

  • A designated Validator is selected to propose a new block to the network.

Pre-Vote Round:

  • Validators engage in a preliminary voting ("Pre-Vote") on the proposed block.

  • Achieving consensus requires a minimum of two-thirds of the Validators' voting power.

Pre-Commit Round:

  • Validators participate in a final round of voting.

  • Successful consensus in this round leads to the commitment of the block.

Upon successful completion of these three rounds, the newly agreed-upon block is added to the blockchain, marked by a new block height and containing the latest transactions.

Slashing Mechanism for Validators

To ensure active and honest participation, Validators in Tncfourt's network are subject to a strict slashing mechanism for any breaches or negligent behaviors:

Double Signing Blocks:

  • Validators found guilty of double signing blocks are penalized by having a specific percentage of their staked TNF tokens slashed.

Inadequate Participation:

  • Validators failing to sign at least 50% of the last 100 blocks face a slashing of their staked tokens.

  • Additionally, they are placed in a temporary "jail" period, barring them from further validation activities for a set duration.
